I work with Dr. Orna Resnekov and a set of collaborators on
a project to quantitatively analyze the phosphorylation state
of pathway proteins involved in yeast pheromone response. Sites
of phosphorylation of pathway proteins identified using mass
spectrometry are selectively mutated to amino acids that cannot
be phosphorylated. The system output of the strains developed
are then analyzed to test for the physiological relevance of
different phosphorylation sites on the pathway proteins.
